Build quality

You all don’t want a lightweight safe that a single burglar can easily carry away. Well, the good news is that the SentrySafe is heavy, weighing 90 pounds – that is, 90 pounds of pure steel all the way around. Looking at the inside, you will see a great-looking plastic finish, but its steel construction makes your valuables completely safe and secure.

The bolts

This safe chooses to go with bolts and there are four of them. When you put your combination in, the safe will unlock all of these bolts and you will be able to open the door and access whatever you’ve put inside the safe.

The problem with bolts is that while they’re quite secure, some very diligent and clever burglars can get around their defenses. They can drill these bolts. Now, SentrySafe seems to be aware of this, and for this reason the company has increased the size of the bolts.

SentrySafe should have also considered to put a lot more bolts, but for now increasing the size of the bolts will make drilling incredibly harder for those intruders.

Water protection and fire resistance

Another good news about SentrySafe is that it offers excellent water protection and fire resistance. You can put this into 8 inches of water, leave it there for 24 hours, and when you come back all of your things inside remain intact. Incredible, isn’t it? So it’s a safe bet (pardon the pun) that this safe will do well against floods.

The company has also done some drop tests, which are not exactly scientific or technical, and basically consist of two men picking up a safe and dropping it before checking it for damage. The SentrySafe was dropped from 15 feet up and it didn’t incur any damage. As a result, it received an EFL quality certification.

The EFL, by the way, is a testing facility for safes and are considered the leading authority in safe testing throughout North America.

As for its resistance to fire, the SentrySafe can be put under 1,700 degrees Fahrenheit for an hour, and if there’s a blaze finally happening then it’s time to take it out.

The verdict?

The SentrySafe is a durable, heavy, reliable and versatile safe. You can confidently stash away your prized assets things such as cash, jewelry, documents, and even sensitive media storage with all your important data there unharmed and still kept intact. You can even keep your guns there inside it, too.

The safe is of medium size, so for people who will have lots of stuff to store, the size won’t be enough for them.

Otherwise, it is an almost perfect safe – the build is very good as it is constructed of strong and durable steel. The lock could have a fingerprint recognition but perhaps we are asking too much. The SentrySafe is a very secure safe. The oversized bolts will take drilling time a lot longer, making it almost impossible for thieves to even attempt at it. The “Pry Resistant Hinge” is also an attractive feature of this safe, making prying it open a big challenge for burglars.
